This quote by Fernando Fern\u00e1n-G\u00f3mez profoundly defines my way of understanding art and my own journey.<\/strong> From an early age, I have felt the need to explore different forms of expression. I have always had a broad range of interests in different artistic disciplines<\/strong>, which has greatly enriched my human experience<\/strong>. I have never understood artistic diversity as a sum of disciplines, but rather as different ways of arriving at the same place: the experience of being alive and communicating from within.<\/strong><\/p>\n
In a changing society, and as stage directors continue to evolve, it is no longer enough simply to sing: performers must be prepared to respond to new artistic and stage demands<\/strong>. That is why I do not seek to fit into a single category. My artistic life is precisely rooted in being<\/strong> different<\/strong>, in exploring, crossing boundaries and finding connections between different forms of expression. Opera, film, acting, dance, piano, musical theatre and research are all part of the same journey and the same need: to understand and experience art in a full and deeply lived way.<\/strong><\/p>\n
Precisely, this way of understanding performance is deeply connected to my PhD Doctoral Thesis<\/strong>, in which I have researched the construction of the operatic character from the perspective of Maria Callas. In it, I explore the physical, cognitive and emotional variables in lyrical performance<\/em><\/strong>, providing deeper insight and a foundation for the idea that excellence lies in integration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
In my case, being a musician and having also studied piano professionally<\/strong> gives me a musical perspective and an essential ability to approach each new repertoire quickly<\/strong>, while dance and acting<\/strong> have taught me to inhabit the body, understand movement and live the character<\/strong>. My experience as a performer, my knowledge and my research have led me to understand that singing requires more than simply having a voice.<\/strong><\/p>\n
As a singer, my instrument is the entire body<\/strong>: the only living instrument, in which each dimension<\/strong> \u2014 physical, cognitive and emotional \u2014 contributes to the voice and to the interpretive outcome<\/strong>. I believe in a form of performance that does not merely represent, but transforms<\/strong>; that does not place a mask over the performer, but uses the character to discover new dimensions of oneself.<\/p>\n
I believe in hard work, determination and the ability to keep learning. Because, in the end, where there is a will, there is a way.<\/strong><\/p>\n

EST\u00cdBALIZ MARTYN<\/strong><\/span> holds a PhD in Music, Science and Technology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), awarded the distinction of Sobresaliente Cum Laude, and is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist with an international career as a soprano (Lyric-Light Soprano with Coloratura), actress, pianist, model and researcher. Her career encompasses operatic and stage performance, film and audiovisual work, dance, artistic research, teaching and creative work.<\/p>\n
She holds a Diploma in Piano from the Conservatorio Montserrat Caball\u00e9 (Madrid), and graduated in Singing from the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Franz Liszt Weimar (Germany). She also holds a Master\u2019s Degree in Artistic Education from the Real Conservatorio Superior de M\u00fasica de Madrid, as well as a Master\u2019s Degree in Voice Pathology and specialised training in Vocal Rehabilitation and Advanced Training in the Professional Speaking and Singing Voice from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Alcal\u00e1 de Henares (Madrid), in collaboration with Hospital Ram\u00f3n y Cajal (Madrid).<\/p>\n
In 2026, she completes six years of doctoral research in Music, Science and Technology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
